The tournament started for CSK on a high as they marked their return by beating Mumbai Indians n the tournament opener.

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis did not make it to the playing XI as he has been suffering from a side strain and a fracture in his finger.

Mike Hussey, the batting coach of the CSK is hopeful of his return for their encounter against Kings XI Punjab on 15th of April.

The South Africa skipper has suffered a few injuries of late while fatigue from the recent Test series against Australia is beginning to take its toll.

The grueling series has already ruled out Pat Cummings, Mitchell Starc and Kagiso Rabada from the on-going IPL season.

Michael Hussey Quotes:

“I believe Faf is not in full training at the moment. He is recovering from a slight side strain. And he also has a small fracture in his one of his fingers. He is going to be ramping up his training in the next seven days. He is hopeful to be available for selection in the next game against Mohali”

CSK will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their second encounter at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai later in the evening.

It will be interesting to see who replaces Kedar Jadhav in the side. It will most probably be Ambati Rayadu taking his place in the middle order.

Faf’s exclusion means Sam Bilings should get a game tonight, as the Englishman will be able to cover for the South African. But CSK will certainly hope that Faf comes back in action pretty soon, as they don’t will miss his experience at the top.
