CSK captain moves Supreme Court against Amrapali

CSK captain moves Supreme Court against Amrapali: The legendary cricketer has knocked Supreme Court’s doors over pending dues.

Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided to move Supreme Court against Amrapali Group for non-payment of dues valuing to be nearly INR 40 crore.

Once the Brand Ambassador of the real estate company, Dhoni going against them came after their negligence to pay the veteran cricketer his dues. Starting from 2009, Dhoni had endorsed for the company for as many as six years.

It was only in 2016 that people started protesting against Amrapali Group after being duped of a hefty amount of money. It is believed that the company had taken money from more than 46,000 buyers for building their flats but failed to deliver the same.

Other than Dhoni, his wife Sakshi Dhoni was also involved in charity operations of Amrapali Group. In a statement, Dhoni has accused the company of not paying him an amount of INR 38.95 crore.

“The builder, Amrapali Group, owes an amount in excess of Rs 38.95 crore of which Rs 22.53 crore is towards the principal amount and Rs 16.42 crore towards interest calculated at 18% simple interest per annum,” Dhoni was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

“It was agreed that the firm will provide Amrapali Group with exclusive right to use his [Dhoni’s] endorsement in connection with the advertisements, marketing and PR activities. Also it was categorically agreed that all the payments under the agreement was to be paid to the applicant [Dhoni] only,” Dhoni added.

Currently leading Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, Dhoni made sure that his team registered their second victory last night against Delhi Capitals in Delhi.
