MS Dhoni opens up on CSK’s sub-par fielding effort against KKR

It was a game that never really took off for CSK, as the batsmen were unable to get a good enough score on the board, despite the pitch not having any demons in it.

MS Dhoni was probably the only CSK batsman who got going for CSK, scoring 43 of 25 to help CSK get to that total of 177.

However, despite that Mahi special, it always felt like CSK were a bit short, as dew does play a huge role at the Eden Gardens.

The pitch got slightly quicker in the 2nd innings, allowing the batsmen to play free-flowing cricket and a masterfully constructed partnership between Gill and Karthik helped KKR get over the line and that too with 14 balls to spare.

MS Dhoni seemed to be a frustrated after the loss, unhappy with the fielding and the bowling effort.

He pin pointed that fielders needed to be a little more alert in the field because the average age of the fielders didn’t quite allow them to move freely on the field.

Jadeja dropped two sitters and Rayudu and Harbhajan looked a little sloppy on the field and thus Dhoni was quick to bring in the ‘Hussey’ example to tell his teammates about how they could go about their fielding.

“The fielding, I knew how we’d field, but what was bad was the way the fielders reacted. You need to give extra when you are slow. Classic example was Michael Hussey. That’s the commitment we needed, but we knew from the start how our fielding will be”
