MS Dhoni was a happy man at the post match presentation as CSK romped to a brilliant win against the table toppers.

CSK had started the game on the front foot, as Deepak Chahar got the ball to move around quite a bit, keeping the SRH openers at bay.

However, SRH and Williamson strung together a brilliant partnership to take SRH to a healthy total of 180.

With rain around, it felt like the SRH seamers would get a lot of purchase in the air and off the wicket in the 2nd innings, but the swing refused to make an appearance in the 2nd innings.

Rayudu and Watson creamed through the powerplay putting the pressure back on SRH. And while everyone expected the best bowling unit in the IPL to make a comeback, they just weren’t allowed to.

Rayudu then went onto score one of the greatest IPL hundreds of all time, a testament to his talent and hard work over the years.

Dhoni was all praise for Rayudu and revealed how he had initially planned that Rayudu would indeed open the batting for CSK.

“Even before IPL started I had to make space for Rayudu, because he is somebody I rate very highly. He can play both the fast bowlers and spinners very well. Most teams look to exploit the opener with spin bowling. He is someone who doesn’t look like a big hitter but almost clears the field every time he plays the big shot. My plan was to make Rayudu open and if Kedar was fit, he will bat at 4 or 5. We keep the number of overs remaining as the mark and we decide the No. 4 batsman based on that. Unfortunately we played one game in Chennai, but the response we got from Pune was very good. The fans watch the game despite the stadium being quite far.” Dhoni said.
