MS Dhoni reviews vs RR

MS Dhoni reviews vs RR: Chennai Super Kings captain was hesitant to opt for a review on the bowling of Deepak Chahar vs RR.

During the 25th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings at Jaipur, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was rarely found wanting against the Decision Review System.

Arguably the best wicket-keeper to take a call on DRS, Dhoni faltered a bit in his judgement against Royals after he seemed uninterested with respect to fast bowler Deepak Chahar appealing against Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane.

It all happened on the fourth delivery of the fourth over when Rahane’s attempt of flicking a Chahar delivery saw him missing the ball altogether. Just as it happened, Chahar appeared confident of dismissing the batsman.

However, with the umpire ruling the decision in Rahane’s favour, Chahar was adamant about going for the review. Dhoni, who initially gave the impression of opting against DRS, was eventually convinced by the 26-year old cricketer.

After the replays confirmed three reds, Rahane had to walk back to the pavilion. Opening the bating with wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler, Rahane ended up scoring 14 (11) with the help of three fours.

Earlier, it was Dhoni who won the toss and chose to field. The visitors announced two changes in their playing XI – Mitchell Santner and Shardul Thakur in for Scott Kuggeleijn and Harbhajan Singh.

On the other hand, RR made three changes to their team. Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag and Jaydev Unadkat were included for Prashant Chopra, Krishnappa Gowtham and S Midhun.
