The route map of MS Dhoni to become one of the greatest cricketers of all time was not that easy. He actively took part in Badminton sport apart from cricket and football.

MS Dhoni in an interview with The Print shared some sweet moments in school days. He pursued Badminton and was inclined to it in the annual sports competition.

There were various sporting stages that entered in his childhood, but MS Dhoni finally ended up as a cricketer.  He said that everything happened at the right time.

“In school, I also pursued badminton and was very active when it came to the annual sports participation, whether it was track and field events or other sports. So, cricket just… everything happened at the right time and I became a cricketer,” Dhoni said.

MS Dhoni said that he loved sports right from the word go. In school days, he used to partake in all other sports just to keep himself fit and in good shape.

Having been actively involved in all other sports, MS Dhoni said that it would be not right to say that he wanted to become a high-profile cricketer.

“I loved sports right from the very start. When I was in school, I used to play a lot of other sports as well, and it would be wrong for me to say that I wanted to become a professional cricketer,” Dhoni told in a statement.

For close to two years, Dhoni said he played some good football as he was the second goalkeeper for his school team. But his cricket team also needed a wicket-keeper.

Then the boys suggested Dhoni to try wicket-keeping and from then on, the rise of Dhoni began. Now he is the world’s best wicketkeeper-batsman.

“For two years, I played proper football. I was the second goalkeeper for my school team, but our cricket team also needed a wicket-keeper.

That was the time when people asked me to try wicket-keeping, and I used to keep wickets when we were playing tennis ball cricket.

The reason was that I was very small, timid, short at that time, so maybe all the seniors thought that was the best place for me to be,” Dhoni added.
