Twitter reactions on CSK captain

Twitter reactions on CSK captain: Twitter was exhilarated as MS Dhoni led his team to third consecutive victory in IPL 2019.

During the 12th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by 8 runs in a cliffhanger of a match.

Chasing a 176-run target to win the match, Royals’ innings started in the worst possible manner as they were reduced to 14/3 in the fourth over. It was a 61-run stand for the fourth wicket between Rohit Tripathi (39) and Steve Smith which laid a foundation for their comeback in the match.

Royals went through a session of play where they lost three wickets in quick succession to once again lost their hold on the match. It was a brisk 46-run partnership between Ben Stokes (46) and Jofra Archer which brought the visitors back into the match.

From needing 56 runs in the last four overs, the equation had come down to them requiring 25 runs in the last two overs. With Stokes hitting Shardul Thakur for a six on the fourth ball of the over, RR needed 12 runs in the last over.

DJ Bravo shines under pressure

The onus had come down on veteran CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo who successfully defended 12 runs in the last over. While he dismissed Stokes on the first ball, him dismissing Shreyas Gopal (0) on the penultimate over of the match sealed victory for the hosts. Other than Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir and Shardul Thakur picked up a couple of wickets each for CSK.

After Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and put CSK in to bat, they ended up scoring 175-5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs on the back of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 21st IPL half-century. With bowling figures of 4-1-17-2, Archer was the highest wicket-taker for RR.
