MS Dhoni's fans slam Surrey for their stumping tweet on Ben Foakes

MS Dhoni’s fans slam Surrey: Ardent fans of the legendary cricketer were seen mocking Surrey after one of their recent tweets.

During the recent South Group match of the Vitality T20 Blast between Surrey and Somerset at The Oval, Surrey wicket-keeper Ben Foakes put on display an outstanding stumping display to dismiss Somerset captain Tom Abell.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 14th over when Abell’s attempt to play a reverse sweep of veteran Surrey spinner Gareth Batty saw him missing the ball altogether. Just as Abell slightly lost his balance, Foakes was aware enough to dislodge the bails and affect that dismissal.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 11th over, Abell ended up scoring 14 (10) with the help of one four. The video of the dismissal was uploaded by Surrey on their official Twitter handle. “Name someone with quicker hands, I dare you,” read the caption of the tweet.

It was the caption which didn’t go down well with former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s fans. While Foakes did make a stellar attempt, Dhoni has affected several better and faster stumping dismissals in the past.

The 38-year old cricketer’s fans were quick to find faults with the caption and the same was visible in the comments under the tweet.

As far as the match is concerned, Surrey chased the 158-run target in the 17th over on the back of opening batsman Aaron Finch’s seventh T20 century, 102* (53), with the help of five fours and nine sixes.
