Nascar noose story : What happened with Bubba Wallace; compelled FBI involvement

Nascar noose story: While the black lives matter shocked the USA in 2020; a noose in Bubba Wallace was defined as a disgraceful act.

During the summer of 2020, a crew member of Bubba Wallace’s team found a noose present in the garage at Talladega Superspeedway. Wallace is the only full-time NASCAR driver, and the noose is a racially offensive symbol.

Thus an immediate response was generated across the NASCAR fraternity, Wallace is an advocate of racial justice and remained vocal during the Black Lives Matter movement.

Several drivers and pit crew members walked behind Wallace’s car in a slow procession before the race. Whereas, NASCAR released an immediate response, soon after informing Wallace about the noose.

“Late this afternoon, NASCAR was made aware that a noose was found in the garage stall of the 43 teams. We are angry and outraged, and cannot state strongly enough how seriously we take this heinous act.”

“We have launched an immediate investigation, and will do everything we can to identify the person(s) responsibly and eliminate them from the sport.”

“As we have stated unequivocally, there is no place for racism in NASCAR, and this act only strengthens our resolve to make the sport open and welcoming to all,” said the statement.

FBI dismissed the possibility of a federal crime

Later FBI took charge of the investigation and denied the possibility of a federal crime, as they reasoned that the noose was present in the garage number 4 since October 2019, and nobody could have had an idea of Wallace being appointed that garage a week before the incident.

“On Monday, fifteen FBI special agents conducted numerous interviews regarding the situation at Talladega Superspeedway. After a thorough review of the facts and evidence surrounding this event, we have concluded that no federal crime was committed.”

“The FBI learned that garage number 4, where the noose was found, was assigned to Bubba Wallace last week. The investigation also revealed evidence, including authentic video confirmed by NASCAR, that the noose found in garage number 4 was in that garage as early as October 2019.”

“Although the noose is now known to have been in garage number 4 in 2019, nobody could have known Mr Wallace would be assigned to garage number 4 last week.”
