“2 Bedroom to 10,000 Square Feet!”: Giannis Antetokounmpo ‘Shelled Out’ $1,800,000 on ‘Luxurious Abode’ 2 Years After Signing $100 Million Bucks Extension
In 2013, Giannis Antetokounmpo was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks. Entering the league as a 19-year-old, the Greek Freak was earning less than $3,000,000 a year in his first four seasons. However, as time passed, his skills improved, making him one of the best in the league. As such, in 2016, he was rewarded with a $100,000,000 extension that kicked in during the 2017-2018 season. It was a hefty sum, and one of the things he splurged on was a $1,800,000 luxury home for his family.
Giannis’ first four years in the NBA saw him have a steep learning curve. Early on, the two-time MVP was holed up in a small two-bedroom apartment. Hardly the abode for a 7’0″, 243-pound forward destined to become an NBA Championship. Fortunately, he only stayed there for a few years before cashing in on his major extension in 2018.
Giannis Antetokounmpo splurged on a luxury home worth $1,800,000 two years after signing a $100,000,000 extension
In 2018, Giannis Antetokounmpo made a significant purchase when he bought a $1,800,000 luxury home. Moving his family into the property at River Hills, Wisconsin, was a huge step up for the Greek Freak. Having signed a $100,000,000 extension two years prior, the Bucks star finally moved out of his two-bedroom apartment.
Spanning 10,000 square feet, the house is quite palatial. Previously owned by two former Bucks players, Michael Carter-Williams and Milos Teletovic, the house features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a lovely yard, a gym, a wine cellar, a beautiful kitchen, a swimming pool, and more. Originally costing $1,650,000, Giannis got a fair price when he paid $150,000 more for the property.
It certainly was a huge step up for Giannis. A great example of the “Rags to Riches” story Antetokounmpo went through. Starting from humble beginnings, Giannis reached this stage in his life through hard work and determination. Now, five years removed from the purchase, his wealth has only grown, as he now has a net worth of $110,000,000, making him one of the richest players in the league.
Giannis shared a two-bedroom apartment with his mother, girlfriend, and brothers
Things weren’t exactly easy for Giannis Antetokounmpo when he first came to Milwaukee. Living out of a two-bedroom apartment, the Greek Freak wasn’t alone. He lived in the congested apartment with his mother, his girlfriend, Mariah Riddlesprigger, and his brothers. Nevertheless, this was a huge difference when compared to what his living situation was like in Greece.
Growing up in Sepolia, an impoverished neighborhood in Athens, Greece, the Giannis was forced to share a bed with his two brothers. Not exactly the ideal living situation for a growing child.
It truly is inspirational to see just how far Giannis has come. He’s had a long and difficult journey to the top. And, now that he’s here, he will continue to hit new milestones as he continues to climb up to the top.
