“Anything LeBron James does, you guys talk about it like its breaking news”: When Kevin Durant sided up for the Lakers superstar while on the Bill Simmons Podcast
Kevin Durant let Bill Simmons know that he isn’t all too fond of the media talking about LeBron James any chance they get.
LeBron James is undoubtedly one of the most talked about athletes in the history of North American Sports. Unfortunately for the 4x champion, most of the hubbub surrounding his name divulges into comparisons with Michael Jordan and how he’ll never be able to catch the ‘Ghost in Chicago’ when it’s all said and done.
A large aspect of receiving an unprecedented amount of hate from NBA fans and analysts alike, is the rise of social media. Michael Jordan never had to deal with millions of trolls on Twitter calling him out on the slightest of flubs in his game. Nowadays, anybody can start their own podcast or simply tweet out horrendous messages directed towards James.
Credit to LeBron James however, as he rarely acknowledges the people who try to put a stain on his legacy. It’s quite hilarious that the Akron native has yet to say the words ‘Skip Bayless’, considering how the man made a career out of slandering Bron.
Kevin Durant defends LeBron James when talking about how the media scrutinizes him for everything.
Making his move to Golden State certainly triggered something in Kevin Durant’s mind as ever since then, he’s gotten more unfiltered than ever before. While appearing on the Bill Simmons Podcast over 4 years ago, Durant calmly called out the likes of Simmons for consistently scrutinizing every miniscule thing LeBron James does.
What KD said about the former Cleveland Cavalier is absolutely true. Anything James does is put under a microscope, no matter how insignificant the action may be. Whether it’s what tweets he likes or if he brought tequila to an NBA Finals game, the media simply cannot stop bashing him for any decision he makes.
LeBron James is, without a question, one of the most polarizing athletes in United States history and what’s even worse is that he doesn’t do all too much to earn such a title.
