This is exactly why a pilot asked Kenny Smith for assistance in case the time came to carry the Hall-Of-Famer out of the plane.

The former Houston Rockets’ 2-time champ isn’t a frequent flyer on the Diesel’s flight. However, when Smith was flying back from Miami with the 4-time champ, he was caught off guard by what the pilot requested before take-off.

After assuming Kenny to be O’Neal’s assistant, the pilot requested Kenny to provide help in case the Big Aristotle was required to be taken out of the plane. As anybody else would, upon hearing these words Kenny was left shocked. In the recent Inside the NBA episode, the analyst spoke about the incident:

“I flew back with Shaq. This has never happened to me in my life. So, I’m coming back (from Miami)… the pilot comes to me before the flight and Shaq is sitting in front and he says ‘I need you to assist me’. I thought he was like asking me am I Shaq’s assistant. I was like ‘no, what are you talking about’?

He’s like ‘I just want to know if something happens and we have to take him off the plane would you assist me because if you say no, we can’t fly’.”

Not only was Kenny surprised as to why Shaq would have to be carried out, but the pilot’s strange question even left Barkley and Ernie Johnson stumped.

The Jet, who is known for his funny one-liners, once teased Sir Charles for constantly eating.
