“Boston Celtics want to give away Jaylen Brown for Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal”: NBA Insider speculates about Brad Stevens’ offseason plans
NBA Insider reveals that the Boston Celtics are ready to trade Jaylen Brown for one of these two superstars, this off-season
Jaylen Brown’s end to this past regular season was nothing less than heartbreaking for Boston. In one of the last games of the campaign, the 24-year-old collided with Jayson Tatum, before landing awkwardly. And when the Celtics man limped off the court, fans of the franchise probably found their tears that much easier to come by.
The team did eventually make the postseason but were bounced out by the Nets in the first round. Since then, there have been a serious number of trade rumors surrounding the franchise. And an alarming number have Brown acting as a major trade piece for Boston.
The Celtics have so far maintained that they want to keep the Jays intact. But, a recent report by an NBA insider has revealed that the franchise would be ready to give him away if they are offered one of these two players.
This could be big. Let’s get into it.
Chris Mannix reveals that the Boston Celtics could let Jaylen Brown go for a return of Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal
Uh oh.
Many will argue this is a bit of an overreaction, that the Celtics would have gone further if they were healthy. Now, while that is true, the question at hand here is, how far exactly.
Even with a healthy roster, not many projected the C’s getting past the Conference Finals. And, it seems that the franchise has started to agree with that notion.
The goal is to build a real contender. And according to Chris Mannix, Boston’s front office could be prepared to make massive changes to make that happen. Here is what he said.
“There are a couple of players out there that I think the Celtics would move for Jaylen Brown… One would be Bradley Beal, who has to make a decision of his own in the next couple of weeks if he wants to sign that extension with Washington. If he doesn’t, that’s tantamount to a trade request and he can become available. And we all know at this point about the relationship between Bradley Beal and Jayson Tatum.
Mannix continued.
“The other is Damian Lillard. It’s still very much up in the air, Lillard’s future in Portland. If in the coming weeks the Blazers decide that they have to trade Damian Lillard, I think Boston would be in a pretty good position to make a strong offer that would have to include Jaylen Brown. So, you don’t just move him to shake things up, but if one of those two players becomes available, I think you have to look long and hard about trading Jaylen Brown.”

This would undoubtedly be a conundrum for Celtics fans since this would mean the Jay duo is split up. However, in terms of overall potential, a team with either Lillard or Beal would be more than just dangerous.
To be fair, this is all still up in the air. But, if this does happen, the landscape of the East could be in for a massive revamp next season.
