EJ Liddell of Ohio State tweeted about death threats sent to him by ‘fans’. Charles Barkley was incandescent at this behaviour.

Basketball brings out both the best and the worst out of those who love the game. Most of the attention that players get from followers of the game is positive, but some of it is just downright terrible behaviour.
Death threats are a commonplace thing on celebrities’ social media, or so it seems these days. These irrational displays of anger have been normalized more and more in this digital day and age.
In any eventuality, sending a death threats to a 19-year-old over just a basketball game is terrible behaviour. No matter what way you look at it, it cannot be condoned, reasoned or justified.
Charles Barkley on people bullying basketball players on social media
This was a topic of discussion during today’s broadcast of Inside the NBA, ahead of the Lakers’ clash with the Hawks. Barkley could not help but go out of his way to blast all of these people:
“First of all, the kid had a good game. But if you’re giving death threats and using racial slurs against a 19-year-old cuz you’re safe in your home, like a coward. Behind a computer and nobody knows who you are, you need to take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.”
“I’m never gonna dignify these losers and interact with them ever. I don’t care how much money someone offers me, I’ll never do social media because of this.”

This is the great thing about Chuck – he never fails to get behind the right causes. He also always protects youngsters in the game – the manner in which he stood up for Markelle Fultz was admirable.
