Jordan gathered up the staff from his basketball team, the Charlotte Hornets, and took them to a local ward and helped out in the best way possible.
Standing together for the community is the way forward and MJ figured that if he led from the front, others will follow suit.
Michael Jordan leads efforts in helping victims of Hurricane Florence
Jordan is not one to shy away from getting his hands dirty. Michael Jordan said, “actions speak louder than words”. So he got his staff and started packing thousands of boxes of food for the victims.
When asked about why he was so conscious of helping, MJ said, “Wilmington truly is my home. Kept thinking about all those places I grew up going to,” he added. “And the deaths – it was so sad about the babies [that died.] You don’t want to see any of that anywhere, but when it’s home, that’s tough to swallow.”
As the towns around his province were flooded due to Hurricane Florence, Jordan ensured that he and his staff were working hard to prepare the boxes. You can listen in on the interview below:
Michael’s philanthropy also extended to charity
Jordan also gave away money. $2 million to be precise. As someone who grew up in North Carolina, the disaster really struck MJ.
He wanted to take care of his people. Jordan’s philanthropy and his own efforts are commendable. It goes to show that in times of need and distress, people will unite to help each other.
