For context, LeBron was referring to the picture of the Cowboys owner, where he was seen standing with a group of white teenagers preventing African American students from entering a school.
Granted the picture was taken in 1957, but James’ point was regarding media hypocrisy. Especially considering the controversies surrounding Kyrie Irving at the time. The four-time NBA Champion was praised for his actions, most recently by Congressmen Donald M. Payne Jr.

2022 was mired with controversy, even in the world of sports. Specifically with regard to Kyrie Irving’s antisemitic comments, and Jerry Jones’ infamous photograph from 1957.
However, it was the former that was covered far more closely by the media. Something that was duly noted by Lakers superstar LeBron James, who made headlines for calling out the media. King James expressed his disappointment at the fact that no one asked him to comment on the Jerry Jones situation, whereas he was badgered about Kyrie Irving.
Following his critique of the media, James received much praise. Most recently from Congressman Donald M. Payne Jr., who gave LeBron a shout-out while speaking on the House floor.
