Despite Earning Just $784,914, Terance Mann Shines Light on Russell Westbrook’s Impact on the Clippers in Mere Few Months

At the trade deadline last season, Russell Westbrook swapped colors in LA, joining the Los Angeles Clippers after a failed stint with the Lakers. It was a huge move, but it saw him sign a measly $784,914, one-year contract with the Clips. But, despite this, Russ showed up. His impact was felt instantly, and as Terance Mann stated on Podcast P with Paul George, there was an immediate change in the team’s locker room. Almost like he was back to being his “old self”.

Westbrook joined the Clippers after the Lakers had traded him to the Utah Jazz on deadline day. The move saw him reach a buyout with Utah before he made his way back to the City of Angels. And, in that short time, he proved his worth. Now, he’s signed a full two-year deal with the Clippers worth $7,863,263.

Terance Mann recalls just how impactful Russell Westbrook is for the Los Angeles Clippers

Russell Westbrook is undoubtedly one of the best players in the NBA. And, while he may not be his 2017 MVP self, his presence is more than enough to revolutionize any team. This is exactly what Los Angeles Clippers star, Terence Mann witnessed when Russ signed for the team during the 2022-2023 trade deadline.

Appearing on Podcast P, Mann discussed a variety of topics related to the sport of basketball. One of which, revolved around Westbrook. Mann spoke about just how “crazy” it is being on the same team as the triple-double machine. And, even added on about just how great a teammate Brodie is.

He recalled how Russ would even be active on the bench, coaching him during games, and how he has the ultimate respect for the nine-time All-Star. A player, he knows will always be at 100%, anytime he steps onto the hardwood floor.

“It’s just crazy being on the same team as him. Great teammate. Like I remember, our first or second game together…he got subbed out and he stood up and coached me the whole second quarter. Didn’t sit down one time. I just have the ultimate respect for him! Anytime he walks out that locker room and crosses the line…It’s on!”

It certainly is high praise from Terance Mann. The 26-year-old has been in the NBA for just four seasons and already has had the opportunity to imbibe the knowledge of one of the all-time greats. Someone, he can now continue to learn from for at least another two years.

Terance Mann could be learning from another veteran guard James Harden this season

Russell Westbrook has certainly had a huge impact on Terrance Mann and his career. But, Mann could have the chance to learn from another all-time great if all the chips fall into place. After all, if the rumors are true, the Clippers are currently in the process of negotiating a trade for Russ’ former teammate, James Harden.

The Beard would be an interesting addition to the Clippers’ roster. And, while this may reduce Mann’s game time, considering Harden would be paired up with Russ in the backcourt, there’s nothing like working with two former MVPs.

There are interesting times ahead for the Clippers. The trade for Harden could be huge for them, and will certainly make them championship favorites. But, only time will tell what the trade market has in store for the LA outfit.
