Despite Shaquille O'Neal's $400 Million Net Worth, Myles' $10,000 Rental Apartment Got an Instant NO From Ex-Wife Shaunie

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most successful basketball players. The big man joined the NBA at the tender age of 19, and played for 19 seasons in the league. Over that time, he accomplished a lot of feats, and registered himself as one of the greats of the game.

At the same time, Shaq amassed a huge wealth from his NBA career. Having earned around $292 Million from his player salary alone, O’Neal built an empire and raised his net worth to over $400 Million.

While he achieved success on the professional and monetary front, Shaq wasn’t so successful in the love department. He was married to Shaunie O’Neal for seven years, during which time, they had four children together. Shaq had his eldest daughter, Taahirah, from a previous lover, and Shaunie had her son, Myles, from a different partner.

Despite his wealth, Shaq’s kids are taught to be wise with their money.

Shaunie Henderson denied Myles O’Neal a $10,000 rental apartment

Having Shaquille O’Neal as your father is an incredible thing. With his love and the wealth around the family, one would assume his children are well off for their entire life. However, that’s not how the O’Neals operate. The kids are well taken care of, but at the same time, anything over the top that they want, they have to earn for themselves.

When Myles O’Neal was asked to find his own place to live, he went and found a $10,000 rental. While most of us would think that his parents would be alright with the same. However, that wasn’t the case. Looking at the apartment, Shaunie was sure impressed. However, once she found out its rent, she instantly shut the idea down.

Shaunie then tried to explain to Myles that a $1500 rental should be enough for him at his age. O’Neal rebuffed and asked for $2,000, which just seemed to anger his mom even more.

Shaquille O’Neal once called Myles the perfect kid

Shaq is extremely proud of his children, and why wouldn’t he be? Each of his kids has chosen their own path, and they seem to be finding success in the same. Once while talking about Myles, O’Neal said,

“Myles is the cunning smart one. I say, go to school stay out of trouble, you can do everything you want. So I don’t mess with him because he’s being the perfect kid.”

“So if he wants to do a reality show and learn about the business and have a good time, there’s not nothing I could do because he does everything I’ve asked him to do … He has a hell of a modelling career, respects his mom, he respects me. He’s 24 — I can’t say don’t do this, don’t do that. He’s been around the business long enough to know what he’s doing.”

Myles aspires to be in show business, and is a DJ, just like his old man. The duo has played together a few times, and they aspire to do the same even more.
