Domantas Sabonis Joins Larry Bird and Wilt Chamberlain in Elite Players’ List With Historic 19/15/16 Stat Line

The Sacramento Kings were looking slightly troubled after losing their first two contests of their current 5-game homestand. Since then, De’Aaron Fox and co. managed to control the bleeding and went on to defeat the Magic on 9th December, the Rockets on 11th December and again yesterday night.

Despite having already defeated Jalen Green and co. in their previous matchup, Mike Brown’s boys weren’t exactly looking comfortable in the first half. However, thanks to a 43-point third period, the California-based team grabbed a huge 139-114 win.

While the likes of Harrison Barnes (27/7/3), Fox (24/5/5), and Terence Davis (22 points) had phenomenal performances, it was Domantas Sabonis who had the best stat line of the night.

Domantas Sabonis joins elite lists

Having played a game-high 37:27 minutes, the Lithuanian star managed to stuff the stat sheet. The former Gonzaga Bulldog lodged a 19-point, 15-rebound, and 16-assist triple-double along with 2 blocks, 2 steals, and merely 2 turnovers.

Sabonis managed to etch his name in the record books.

The 26-year-old became the first player in almost 40 years to have a 15/15/15/2/2 game. The last person to do so? Larry Bird.

Recording a 15/15/15 game, Domantas joins Oscar Robertson as the only other player to do so in franchise history. And also joins Wilt Chamberlain and Nikola Jokic as the only centers to ever lodge such a stat line.

“If Domas isn’t All-Star, shame on the whole process”: Mike Brown

There is no denying that Sabonis is playing at an All-Star level. Averaging an impressive 18.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game, the southpaw is one of the major reasons behind the Kings being #4 in the stacked West.

Much to everyone’s surprise, in the latest All-Star voting return, the 7-foot-1 big man wasn’t even in the top 10 vote-getters among the Western Conference frontcourt, which is very shocking, to say the least.

Amid the snubs, after the win against the Rockets, head coach Brown spoke to the media about Fox and Sabonis’ selection to the prestigious ASG.

SacTown currently holds a 23-18 record and is merely 2 games behind the #3 Pels. There needs to be more respect put to their name.
