"Donovan Mitchell is the greatest Utah Jazz player of all time": Stephen A Smith produces his worst First Take of all time, glosses over Karl Malone and John Stockton

Stephen A Smith has outdone himself today by claiming that Donovan Mitchell is the greatest player in Utah Jazz history.

Most people believe that sports is a matter that requires serious analysis and values facts over sentiments. But for a man like Stephen A Smith, these words seem to be of no impact at all.

The man makes no bones of his propensity to drop the most outrageous of takes like they’re facts. So brazen has Stephen A become now, that he is willing to change the narrative to practically anything he likes.

“Let me be very clear about this. Donovan Mitchell is a superstar. Dominating this series, averaging what, 41 points? Averaging 32 in the postseason? Undefeated in the playoffs with him in the starting lineup cuz he missed the first game with ankle injuries?”

Well you didn’t find much amiss in what he’s said thus far, right? But then Stephen A decides to go overboard and put himself into prime nephew territory. Indeed, most of r/nba seems wise compared to Stephen A after this take.

Stephen A Smith coronates Donovan Mitchell as the Utah Jazz GOAT

After throwing around a slew of observations from their first 7 games in this year’s playoffs about Spida’s play, Stephen A proceeded to lay the groundwork for the worst basketball take of 2021:

“In Utah, already, I don’t wanna hear about Karl Malone, I don’t wanna hear about John Stockton. [Donovan Mitchell is] the best player in the history of the Jazz organization.”

Mike Greenberg was nonplussed by this bluster on his own morning show for once. The ESPN host, however, didn’t do too much to stop Stephen A in his monologue mode.
