Sorry, didn’t Kevin Durant suffer an Achilles injury? Because it almost seems like we only imagined it happening.
The Slim Reaper has been torching the NBA since his return to the floor. But, while he looked like his pre-injury self during the regular season, many believed his body just wouldn’t be able to keep up with the intensity of the playoffs.
Fast forward to a few short months later though, and the Nets, without James Harden, have blown out the Bucks, with a final score of 125-86, in game-2. And, just to remind everyone, this is the Conference Semi-Finals!
Durant put 32 points on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s head, someone who is widely considered the best defender in the NBA. And, he did this 12-18 from the field (66.7%), and 4-6 from three (66.7%). The Nets star is quite simply a cheat code.
After watching this game, Jay Williams remembered a conversation he had had with KD just a couple of years ago. And during this little talk, the player might have just revealed his motivation behind slicing up the Greek Freak.
Let’s get into it.
“Don’t you ever compare me to Giannis again”: Jay Williams about Kevin Durant
Jay Williams is a former player, turned ESPN analyst for the NBA. On his show ‘KJZ’, the 39-year-old often shares some insider stories about current NBA players, along with his own thoughts on the matter. And on its most recent episode, he had a very interesting one to share about Kevin Durant. Here is what he said.
“Couple of years ago… I went on ‘Get Up’ that day and said…when I think about Giannis, AD and Kevin Durant had a baby, to a degree. Size, length… I’m not saying skillset, I’m just saying the way he played… Kevin Durant comes up to me at the club, and says ‘Yo, don’t you ever compare me to Giannis again.’”

The analyst further went on to talk about how he only meant the comparison in terms of their body type. However, it was clear that KD was offended. According to the former player, Durant seemed offended that the two players were even considered in the same conversation as each other.
When you consider those things, the only thing you can say is, “Giannis Antetokounmpo is in trouble.”
Now, we know the reason why the Slim Reaper looked hungry for blood on the court during game-2. And something tells us, that mentality isn’t going to change anytime soon, in this series.
