Shaquille O’Neal is the true heartbeat of the NBA community. He played in the league for 19 years before retiring and choosing to cover the same as an on-air analyst for TNT. For the past month or so, Shaq was missing from the action.

On March 6th, Shaq turned 51. Since then, Big Diesel was nowhere to be seen. He was neither on Inside the NBA, nor was he taking out any new episodes of his podcast, The Big Podcast. Fans were worried about his health, and it didn’t help things when he uploaded a tweet in a hospital gown.
Well, there was nothing to worry about. He was in the hospital to get hip replacement surgery. He had mentioned the same on the pod episode before his birthday and talked about the same after his return.
Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t want another hip replacement surgery
Watching how concerned the people got, Shaquille O’Neal thought it was only fair to thank them for their concerns. He also chose to give us an update that the surgery went well and he’ll start his proper rehab soon.
However, he also spoke about how he’s done with hip replacements. Shaq said,
“I’ll never do again[talking about hip replacement surgery] by the way. I’ll never do it again because I can handle pain, but I just don’t like continuous pain.”
O’Neal then went on to describe how pain killers helped him not feel anything initially, but now that he’s off them, everything hurts.
“So when I drive, like right now I’m sitting on this leather thing and my a** cheek is just on fire!”
After giving us the painful description, Shaq talked about how it was his two-month checkup, when Nischelle Turner corrected him and told him the surgery wasn’t two months ago. Spice Adams and Nischelle then joked about how the painkillers hadn’t worn off yet.
It sounds like a painful experience for Shaq, but I hope he gets the results he had desired.
Shaq shared his ideal weight post recovery
Shaquille O’Neal is a big man, who used to weigh 324 lbs. However, the surgery and all might have made the big man gain a little bit of weight. Talking on the podcast, he shared what his ideal weight is going to be.
He talked about how he wants to set a target weight of 350 lbs. Adams had suggested 280, but Shaq shuddered and said that’s too skinny. While he did not reveal his current weight, he did narrow it down to between 350 to 370 lbs.
