Doris Burke takes cheeky dig at Kevin Durant while praising Michael Porter Jr.
Doris Burke went tongue-in-cheek about Kevin Durant on Twitter while commentating in the NBA playoff opener. She was complimenting Michael Porter Jr.
Kevin Durant’s Twitter game has been a major talking point for NBA fans of late. The 2-time Finals MVP has been letting loose on haters on social medium, engaging in Twitter wars with people tweeting at him.
Its why I still have twitter…they want me to act professional on the internet. No, I won’t lol

Doris Burke’s dig at Kevin Durant
ESPN commentator Doris Burke alluded to this while waxing eloquent about Michael Porter Jr.
During the Jazz vs Nuggets game, Michael Porter Jr’s 3 point walk up feel seemed a lot like Durant’s to Doris Burke, but she wanted to let KD know that she wasn’t really comparing the young Nuggets star to him.
The comment was made in jest and highlighted how KD can sometimes blow things out of proportion on Twitter.
“I don’t want KD mad at me, Kevin Durant, but … did that not have a Kevin Durant walk-up 3 feel, release point, quickness, fluidity, mechanics?” quipped Burke in the booth.

Michael Porter Jr. redshirted his first year in the league. He was seen as a high-risk prospect in the 2018 NBA Draft, having only played 3 games in college. Despite being ranked as the top high school player in USA, he fell all the way to no. 14. Even this season, he was mostly an end-rotation guy for the Nuggets till the NBA shut down.

Porter Jr. got his big chance when Gary Harris and Will Barton went down for the Nuggets in the NBA bubble. Nuggets head coach Mike Malone moved him into the starting lineup. In 7 games during the bubble, Porter Jr. tallied averages of 22 points and 8.6 rebounds. He also shot 42% on 3-point shots, converting 2.7 of them per game in the bubble.
Porter Jr’s pull-up jump shot does look eerily like Kevin Durant’s. Kevin Durant is a near-7-foot guy whose slick handles and smooth jumpshot make him unguardable. What sets KD apart from players of his height, however, is his ability to take it to the rack at will.
Kevin Durant is one of the all-time great scorers to ply their trade in the NBA. It’s heady praise indeed for someone to be mentioned in the same breath as him.
