“ESPN lied to us to put LeBron James alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo”: NBA fans blast ESPN on ABC for posting an incorrect graphic involving the Lakers and Bucks MVPs
NBA fans are livid after seeing ESPN put up an incorrect statistic of LeBron James alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Shaquille O’Neal.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks continue their impressive homestead as they improve to a staggering 8-1 at home in the NBA Playoffs. Their Game 3 must-win, just as Will Barton predicted, was a blowout as at halftime, it was clear that the Bucks looked to notch at least one game on the board during this Finals.
The man who many NBA analysts wrongfully relegated to being merely a ‘Robin’ to Khris Middleton’s ‘Batman’ has proved yet again that he is a 2x MVP for a reason. He dropped yet another 40-bomb on the Suns and this time around, it paid off as the Bucks won Game 3.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had yet another historic performance as he’s one of 7 players in NBA Finals history to have notched 40+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in a Finals game. The other 6 are LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kevin Durant, Jerry West, and John Havilcek.
NBA fans react to ESPN claiming LeBron James did what Shaq and Giannis have done in the NBA Finals.
It’s very common to compare current greatness to past greatness to put things into perspective. When Giannis dropped 20 in a quarter in Game 2, he was automatically compared to Michael Jordan and his 22 points in a quarter in 1993.
Now, with yet another stellar performance in Game 3, ESPN decided to air a graphic that claimed Giannis is one of three players in NBA history to notch back-to-back 40 and 10 games on the Finals. The other 2, according to ESPN on ABC, were LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal. This however, is not true as James had 41 and 8 after dropping 41 and 16 in the 2016 NBA Finals.
NBA fans were clearly appalled by ESPN’s attempt at trying to shoehorn in LeBron James into every conversation as they took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the subject.
This list should only be O’Neal and Giannis, but it’s still insane to see. LeBron didn’t do it in back-to-back games in 2016. pic.twitter.com/QE4YA4GWQt
