"Every game is crucial for us": Anthony Davis talks up Lakers' defensive excellence ahead of LeBron James' return after beating Julius Randle and co

LA Lakers star Anthony Davis speaks on the franchise’s current predicament after grabbing a crucial win in OT against the Knicks.

LA Lakers fans can finally smile again. After a difficult and scrappy season filled with injuries, their superstar duo will be back out on the floor together very soon. Anthony Davis in fact has already played in a few games. And scarily, the player has already started to hit his stride.

The team has won its last two games, and only narrowly lost the game they had against the Blazers right before their win streak. Finally, just a few games before the end of the regular season, the Lakers seem to be putting it together. And a large part of the credit needs to go to the Brow for his incredible performances during this period.

The franchise’s most recent win came against the New York Knicks in overtime. After the match, Davis stopped by for an interview with the Inside Crew. Let’s get into it.

“Every game for us is crucial”: Anthony Davis praises his team’s performance against the Knicks

In the win against the Knicks, Anthony Davis had a bit of an off-night. He recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, doing it on 34.8%. However, with the performances he has been putting up, this standalone shouldn’t worry Lakers fans. In fact, there is enough reason for those supporting the franchise to feel highly encouraged.

Despite AD misfiring, the game ended 101-99 in LA’s favor. And it is the team’s supporting cast that made it happen. Kyle Kuzma in particular was very impressive.

He had 23 points, off the bench, on 52.9% from the field and 50% from three. Talen Horton Tucker also showed out, grabbing 10 assists, and 13 points, three o which came from his game-winner.

Overall, an incredible performance from the team as a whole. And Anthony Davis made sure to point that out. Take a listen.

“We’re fighting to get into the playoffs, and not playing in the play-in…Every game for us is crucial. Guys came out and left it all on the floor.”

This is a very encouraging time for the team. Not only do they finally have some momentum, but their record (39-30), is incredibly close to the 6th seeded Mavericks (40-29). Keep this up, and the franchise gives itself a massive chance to enter the playoffs directly, rather than take part in the play-in tournament.
