LeBron James At 38 is Still Chasing Michael Jordan’s 51-point Performance at 38!
LeBron James might have turned 38 and put up a spectacular performance on his birthday, it is the third highest points scored on a birthday. But even at this age, he still cannot escape the shadow of Michael Jordan.
Michael Jordan might have been the most efficient player with an added layer of durability. While the latter part of his career gets seldom talked about, it is high time we include it in conversations.
Unlike the rest of the league’s players, MJ at 38, in his final year playing basketball, was still supremely efficient. He played for a damaged Wizards team, where the only star player alongside him was Rip Hamilton.
When we look at LeBron James’ longevity and the star-studded cast he has at his disposal, one can only wonder, why can’t he be better? For context LeBron’s teammates currently are first-ballot Hall of Famers, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis. Celestial.
Is LeBron James’ eruption on his 38th birthday, a final blast, or a sign of things to come?
LeBron might have erupted for 47 and it is still quite a ways off from his back-to-back home game 50-point performances he put up last year. But he is doing it on his 38th birthday.
One can only ponder the legitimacy of such an explosion. It feels like how a dying star bursts into a supernova. LeBron’s career might be reaching its end and for once, we are unsure whether such a cataclysmic event will take place again.
Father time simply cannot be beaten. And earlier, James himself expressed his desire to win more championships. The hunger is there but is it enough?
How is LeBron still chasing Michael Jordan?
James’ quest is unending. No matter what he does, he is behind Michael Jordan. Until he overtakes him.
He has proven time and again, he can do it. No doubt. But at the same age, Michael Jordan holds the record for most points in a game. 51 points.
LeBron it seems is still under the shadow. And Jordan has put quite the authority over NBA records. James will have to hope the ember inside him is not extinguished just yet. He has to muster the will and challenge, MJ. We believe he can do it. But it only depends on if he wants to.
