The NBA has taken the Black Lives Matter movement to the next level in the bubble. Their actions were in the backdrop of countrywide protests in the USA regarding the deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and other black civilians.
Jacob Blake is the latest black civilian to become a victim of police brutality. The unarmed father of five children was walking back to his car after resolving a quarrel between two other women when policemen opened fire on his back. They caught him with 7 bullets. Blake has been airlifted to Milwaukee and is under intensive care at the moment.

Among the prominent NBA players who voiced their frustration at this new incident of violence were Donovan Mitchell and LeBron James.
Donovan Mitchell went as far as to say that the NBA should call off the playoffs, as the scenario in the country isn’t favourable for anything apart from movements to stop police brutality.
LeBron James pointed out how ‘our people’ are being targeted and how this isn’t acceptable one bit. He emphasised on how this was an ongoing issue and needed to be nipped in the bud as soon as possible.
