“First bad game the Lakers have had”: Magic Johnson criticizes LeBron James and co for lackluster performance against basement Detroit Pistons team in blowout loss
Magic Johnson takes to Twitter to say that LeBron James and the Lakers’ loss to the Detroit Pistons last night was their first bad loss.
After losing a close one to the Philadelphia 76ers the night prior, the Los Angeles Lakers looked to seek redemption as they faced off against the Detroit Pistons last night.
Seems as though the Lakers were gassed due to this bout being at the tail-end of a back-to-back as they were blown out, 107-92 off the back of 23 points from Blake Griffin.
Granted, Anthony Davis did not suit up tonight, but this was a subpar team effort from the Lakers as a whole. LeBron started the game off hot, going 7-7 from the field. He immediately cooled off as he would go on to miss 11 of his next 12 shots.
Magic Johnson’s take on the Lakers’ loss to the Pistons
This would be the Lakers’ first back-to-back loss of the 2020-21 NBA season, and it wasn’t pretty. The Lakers experienced one of the most horrendous dry spells of the season in the fourth quarter of this game. They would go on to miss every shot they attempted from the 8:40 mark to the 1:50 of the fourth.
In response to the Lakers’ abysmal performance, Magic Johnson tweeted out, “This is the first real bad game the Lakers have played this season.”
This is the first real bad game the @Lakers have played this season.

This holds true as this is the first game LeBron James and the Lakers have lost by 15 or more points. It is also the only game they have lost to a team under .500.
The Lakers are now 1 full game back from reclaiming the number one seed out West as they boast a 14-6 record. They will have their hands full on Sunday. The Celtics will host them at the TD Garden during the weekend.
