Kendrick Perkins compares Giannis Antetokounmpo to Shaquille O’Neal following the Bucks star’s Game 3 40-point explosion against the Suns
The Milwaukee Bucks have finally joined the party in game 3 of the NBA finals. The Giannis Antetokounmpo led team registered a 120-100 win over the Phoenix Suns. This win was a testament to the talent that is present in this Bucks side and one should count them out at their own peril.
Giannis came up with big numbers as the Suns failed to contain him. The Greek Freak delivered when it needed with a game high 41 points. He ended the night with 41 points, 13 boards and six assists. For the Suns none of them stood out as such, both Jae Crowder and DeAndre Ayton scored 18 points while Chris Paul dropped 19 points. Devin Booker had a rare off day scoring only 10 points. It was Giannis’ day and he showed what he can do with his athleticism and tenacity. Some of his plays on the paint made fans and experts remind of Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal.
The Greek Freak stands at 6’11 feet and is undoubtedly one of the most athletic players in the NBA. But he is far from the beast that Shaq was standing at 7’ 1”. But the duo have several similarities in their playing style. They both favour the paint and are almost unstoppable in that area when they are on song.
Kendrick Perkins was quick to draw comparisons between Giannis Antetokounmpo and Shaquille O’Neal after his match-winning performance against the Suns.

While Giannis was tearing the Suns apart and guiding the Bucks to a dominant win, former NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins drew comparisons with Shaquille O’Neal. Perkins came up with the tweet calling the Greek Freak ‘Giannis O’Neal’. A lot of fans and others also felt the same as Giannis rolled back the clock.
The Bucks talisman scored 24 points from the paint and a 12/12 record from the field in that area. His dominance on the paint reminded the fans of how Shaq used to be unguardable during his golden days.
Just like Shaq, Giannis also has his limitations in their perimeter shooting. The duo tends to show trust in their teammates with better 3point shooting. Also, both Shaq and Giannis are far from their best when it comes to free throws. Hence the comparison sits really well among the fans and the experts.
