“Giannis Antetokounmpo joins Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kevin Durant”: The Greek Freak puts himself among special company, following a huge performance in Game 3 of the Finals vs the Suns
In a huge Game 3 win against the Suns, Giannis Antetokounmpo puts himself in the company of Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kevin Durant as the only players to record 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists through 3 quarters.
Over the past couple of years, Giannis Antetokounmpo has proven to be one of the most dominant players in the league. There is no doubt that the 2-time MVP is one of the best players in the league today. And behind his leadership, the Milwaukee Bucks have been legit title contenders.
After a pretty successful 2020-2021 regular season, Giannis along with Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday led the team to bring in the same energy into the postseason. After defeating the star-studded Brooklyn team in round 2 of the playoffs, the Bucks became the instant favourites to win the title.
However, after suffering a 2-0 deficit in the NBA Finals series against the Phoenix Suns, Giannis and co. managed to grab the much-needed Game 3 win. And it was the Greek Freak who stood out on Sunday night, leading his Bucks team to defeat the Suns 120-100, cutting down Chris Paul and the team’s lead to only 2-1.

It was a clinical outing for Giannis. The Milwaukee leader looked fearless and was unstoppable by any defence the Suns had for him. While shooting on an efficient 14-23 from the field, Antetokounmpo ended the night with an incredible 41 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists performance.
In just 30 and a half minutes, Giannis had already recorded 34 points, 12 rebounds and dished 6 assists. Joining the special company of Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kevin Durant, as the only players ever to have 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists through 3 quarters of an NBA Finals game.

Antetokounmpo followed his 42-point, 12-rebounds Game 2 double-double performance, with yet another historic 41-point, 13-rebounds double-double outing. He is now the second player ever in NBA history, to have 40+ points and 10+ rebounds in back-to-back finals games, joining only big man Shaquille O’Neal for this astonishing feat.

The only player ever to record 40+ points in four consecutive games is the GOAT himself – Michael Jordan. While digging his Bucks team out of this 2-1 deficit, Giannis will hope to equal and eventually break MJ’s this historic record.
Will Giannis and the Bucks manage to level the series in Game 4? Or will CP3 and his Suns team take a 3-1 series lead? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Phoenix and Milwaukee will return at the Fiserv Forum for Game 4 on Wednesday night, at 9 PM ET.
