'Giannis Antetokounmpo's Bucks future in jeopardy': Bogdan Bogdanovic's signing means the MVP could leave Milwaukee

According to various sources, Giannis might be on the move from the Bucks after how they botched the Bogdan sign-and-trade.

Adding Bogdan Bogdanovic would have been a real shot in the arm for the Bucks. The 28-year-old is a capable playmaker and can make some of the toughest shots in the game. His presence would have been invaluable to the Bucks offense, which relies heavily on Giannis’s ability to draw double teams.

Bogdan eventually signed with the Atlanta Hawks on a 4-year, $72 million deal. This is $4 million higher per annum than the sum he would have made with the Bucks.

Bogdan was Giannis’ “preferred addition” this offseason. The Greek Freak admired the European’s toughness and swagger and viewed him as someone you “could go to war with in the postseason.”

The Bucks are all in on a future built around Giannis, having traded many of their picks to strengthen their roster around him. The acquisition of Jrue Holiday from the Pelicans was a high risk strategy that may backfire in due course of time.

There is much speculation that Anthony Davis is holding off on signing a max contract with the Lakers in order to recruit Giannis. Adding the Greek Freak to the Lakers’ roster would make them prohibitive favorites for years to come.

The Milwaukee Bucks are between a rock and a hard place. If they don’t fly off to a stupendous start to the season with Giannis not signing a supermax extension, they might have to shop him at the trade deadline. They would run the risk of losing him for nothing in the offseason otherwise.

Many teams have freed up cap space for the summer of 2021 to make a run at the Greek Freak and this botch up with Bogdanovic’s trade could just be the final nail in the coffin.
