Having Sold $1 Sunglasses On The Street, Giannis Antetokounmpo Shuns Elon Musk’s $8 Twitter Blue Plan

Giannis Antetokounmpo might be on a $250 million contract but he hasn’t forgotten his street-hawking roots. It would be hard to also. After making it so big in life, it is not easy to hold on to success. So much so that he might be cautious in paying for an $8 subscription?

Yes, the rage right now is Elon Musk’s Twitter and its change of mandate that requires everyone to pay for the Twitter Blue feature. It seems almost foolhardy and an erroneous approach to things, but we have to wait and see.

A flurry of stars and celebrities and even public figures have been hit by this new mandate that came into effect on the 20th of April. Seems like Giannis too is among those that have been hit by it. And as far as we know, he won’t be looking to change that anytime soon.

Giannis Antetokounmpo refuses to buy Twitter Blue, even if it is for $8

So, it looks as though Giannis Antetokounmpo is refusing to buy the Twitter Blue subscription like the rest of us. But while he may be earning upwards of $40 million each year, he isn’t too keen on shelling out $8.

Let’s also not forget that he sold sunglasses on the streets when he was a young boy. Those sunglasses were sold for $1 each. The story has resonated with him, even as he grapples with superstardom.

No Twitter blue for now, but let’s wait and see. His PR team might be sensible and get the verification. However, seeing as Twitter is mostly personal, it is unlikely he gets it instantly.

Why did Giannis not get preferential treatment like LeBron?

Well, unlike Giannis, LeBron James has Twitter Blue and it is no thanks to his own actions. Elon gifted James.

Yes, to get more users or to rather uphold the integrity of your website for some reason, Elon decided to give James the subscription.

But Giannis didn’t get the same treatment. Despite the fact that he is quite popular. Perhaps, LBJ’s worldwide popularity is far greater.
