How Andrew Wiggins Hilariously Forced the NBA to Rethink Voting Privileges Given to Social Media

Andrew Wiggins is underrated in terms of just how important he is for the Warriors. After all, while people may forget, he was arguably the Warriors’ second-best player during their championship run, proving his worth through each and every round of the playoffs.

However, even before the postseason, Wiggins had shown some serious improvements. And so of course, countless fans voted for him to be in the All-Star game.

But no one could’ve predicted what happened next. Not even the NBA.

Andrew Wiggins was voted into an All-Star starter. And the reason it happened is so bizarre, the league up and canceled a whole method of voting.

Andrew Wiggins got a spot as an All-Star Starter because of one weird loophole in the hashtag voting system

It is All-Star voting season right now, and people can participate by going to the NBA app and voting for the people they believe should make it.

However, if you were a fan of the NBA during this time last year, you’d know that people could vote for players by tweeting out about a player with the #AllStar tag, and it’d still count as a vote.

Frankly, it didn’t seem like a bad idea… not until certain ramifications of it were discovered.

Take a look at the YouTube clip below to find out what it was.

Yes, a little promotion tactic took Andrew Wiggins from being a player who may make the All-Star team, to one that shot past everyone’s expectations to be a starter.

Wiggins certainly deserved to be an All-Star, but being a starter?

It’s a good thing the NBA has tweaked its approach since.

What does Andrew Wiggins’s return mean for the Warriors?

He may not be Stephen Curry, but he is still arguably the second-best player the team has right now.

Having him back means that the Warriors finally get some more of the defensive presence back. And of course, also that they get a few more buckets on the offensive end as well.

Two-way players are perhaps the most important type of athlete in the NBA. And Wiggins is one of the better ones in the league.

So, finally having him back from injury and illness will mean the world to the Warriors.
