"I Had Little Man Complex”: 6ft Allen Iverson Would First Destroy Big Men in Practices, Then Beat Them to Buy Everything in ‘Big & Tall'

Allen Iverson used to beat his big men in practice and at the clothing store. Why? Because he had a little man complex.

Allen Iverson is one of the most iconic players in NBA history. The guard played a pivotal role in basketball, changing the way some people viewed the one and two positions.

Known for his silky smooth handles, scoring, and speed, AI was the complete package. He was the No.1 overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, and with averages of 27 points, four assists, and six rebounds, was a Hall of Famer by the end of his career.

However, standing at 6’0″ tall, Iverson was never the tallest player on his team. He was very conscious about the same, and as a result would take out his frustration on the big men on his team.

Allen Iverson used to beat his bigger teammates in training and in the clothes shop to make up for his height

In the modern-day NBA, height isn’t really a prerequisite for success anymore. The guard position has been revolutionized by the likes of Steph Curry and Chris Paul, making height redundant.

Another player who played an impact on this was Allen Iverson. At a height of 6’0″, the Answer wasn’t the tallest player on any team he was on. Something that bothered him so much that he would try to beat the big men on his team both on the court and in the clothing shops.

“Teammates used to get mad as hell at me. Like I used to go in big and tall and buy everything up. I used to buy 4x t-shirts, size 40 pants, and they used to go in there…I’m talking about big men on the team…after practice, and I would beat then there. You know what I mean.”

“I would buy everything and they would get mad at me because I would buy up all the big clothes. It was in style, and I probably had the little man complex…I always wanted the biggest car, the biggest Rolls-Royce, and the biggest clothes.”

AI might have taken things a bit too far with this one. He could have at least left something for the big guys on his team.

Allen Iverson was a fashion icon the likes the NBA had never seen

The Answer would beat his bigger teammates to all the big clothes in the store. But what did he do with them? Well wear them of course. AI’s unique fashion sense of always wearing big clothes made him a fashion icon in sports.
