Lakers’ superstar LeBron James talks about his upcoming movie and Michael Jordan at the premiere of Space Jam: A New Legacy

Even though LeBron James and his Lakers took an early playoff exit this season, the King is still in a high-pressure situation come Finals time. However, this time around, the pressure is unlike something he has ever faced before.

LBJ has been in every possible high-pressure situation on the court. He has taken crucial buzzer-beaters, he has played on every level of NBA Basketball. LeBron James has even made what was an impossible 3-1 comeback in the NBA Finals.

This time though, LeBron is facing an unknown opponent. With the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy just days away, the pressure on the King is immense. A lot of the pressure LeBron faces is to live up to the mark that his idol Michael Jordan set.

LeBron James just wants to make Michael Jordan proud

An entire generation idolized Michael Jordan growing up. Whenever he stepped on the court, his Airness gave it his all and never failed to impress. Just like tons of other kids, LeBron James grew up with Michael Jordan as his idol.

For the longest time, LeBron and his career have been measure using Jordan’s achievements as yardsticks. With the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy, the comparisons would move beyond the court as well. Talking to the press at the event, LeBron said,

“I hope I continue to make Michael proud,” LeBron said. “He’s someone I looked up to as a kid and hopefully this is another step in that direction.”

The King is obviously looking for His Airness’ validation. The initial reviews of the movie do tend to portray that LeBron would get it. Space Jam: A New Legacy releases on 16th July.
