'I like where we are but I don't love where we are': LeBron James reveals his thoughts on the Lakers current situation ahead of the second half of the season

LeBron James says that it’s time for the Lakers to step on the accelerator in the second half of the season and display their dominance.

Last year, King James led the Los Angeles Lakers to win their 17th NBA title. This year too, the Lakers remain one of the strongest teams in the league and are one of the potential title contenders.

Although, the first half of the 72-game season, was not at all what the defending champions had envisioned. Things didn’t end up the best for them. They lost a couple of games at a stretch, had to deal with injuries of players especially their All-Star Anthony Davis and even fall down to the third spot in the Western Conference.

The load fell on King James more than ever. The 17-time All-Star has been averaging the third-highest minutes in the whole league, despite being 36-years-old. In a recent assessment on their position, James stated how he liked the position they were in but didn’t love it. He added:

“We’ve hit the injury bug as of late. And also with a little of Covid restrictions kept a lot of our guys out. But I like where we are. I don’t love where we are because we have losses. If we were 36-0, I’d be fine. Any time we lose, I don’t like it.”

‘I have to play like the MVP every night to win basketball games’: LeBron James

Being in the league for almost 2 decades, LeBron won many accolades. James has won four MVPs so far, and this season too is amongst the MVP talks. It is obvious that the Lakers’ success is related to LBJ’s performance. The Lakers will go as far as their leader will take them.

LeBron mentioned how he was looking forward to the remainder of the season, with his motivated group. He also added how he has to be playing on an MVP level in order to win basketball games. LeBron mentioned:

“I like where we are. I’m looking forward to the second half of the season. It’s going to be extremely fun. Our group is motivated to get back to where we know we need to be, going down the stretch to the playoffs. For me personally, it’s my job to be the MVP every night for our ball club in order to help us win basketball games. That’s been my motto since I came into the league.”

Luckily for the Lakers, they still have half of a season remaining to turn things around in their favour. Despite their struggles, they are still the team to beat in the league.
