"I Make $3,000,000, What's A Couple Thousand?": Charles Barkley Once Scoffed At His Fine For Brawling With 'Michael Jordan's Nemesis' Pistons

Charles Barkley was renowned for his aggressive style of play during his playing days. His relentless intensity often led to heated confrontations and on-court fights. Barkley’s combative nature resulted in numerous fines, but it didn’t faze him. Even an altercation with the Detroit Pistons, the least favorite team of Michael Jordan left him unfazed. Why? Well, he had a $3,000,000 contract to shield him.

His game thrived on offensive aggression. One memorable incident occurred during his time with the Rockets when he and Shaq engaged in a heated fight that spilled into the courtside seats. But, even a fight with Big Diesel didn’t bother him. And, as he revealed to Sports Illustrated it’s all thanks to the security he had with his money.

Charles Barkley was unfazed by the fines he received even when brawling with the Bad Boy Pistons

In 1990, 76ers star, Charles Barkley got into one of the biggest fights of the season against the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons. In a heated clash with center Bill Laimbeer, Chuck got in a few good left hooks, causing quite a scene. This prompted the NBA to doll out what many would call a hefty fine at the time.

The Round Mound of Rebound was handed a $22,000 fine, on top of which he lost $31,700 in suspended salary. However, this didn’t bother the Hall of Famer one bit. And, that is because he had money to spare. That season, Chuck was earning close to $3,000,000. So, a few fines here and there meant nothing to him.

That being said, his aggressive nature did not leave him once he retired. In fact, it still remains with him to this day, and can even be seen on display during his heated arguments and clashes with Shaq on Inside The NBA.
