“I see a lot of myself in Patrick Mahomes”: Steph Curry says his NFL counterpart could be the Chiefs superstar following his Super Bowl loss to Tom Brady

Steph Curry relates himself to Patrick Mahomes. Curry says that the Chiefs quarterback is the closest thing to himself in the NFL.

When Tony Romo put out the promo for Super Bowl LV CBS, he compared Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes to Michael Jordan and LeBron James respectively. In terms of potential, Patrick Mahomes could one day be the LeBron James of the NFL.

However, in terms of his impact on the game, the way he approaches it with creativity and flair, he is quite reminiscent of Steph Curry, rather than the ‘King’. The never-before-seen passes, the field vision, the movement with or without the football; these are all innovative tricks and skills that are in his bag and reminds fans of an MVP Steph Curry.

This is what Stephen A. Smith was talking about on First Take last night and Steph Curry himself, seems to agree with the comparison.

Steph Curry compares himself to Patrick Mahomes

While on a podcast, Steph Curry was asked who his favorite player was in the NFL. With confidence, the 3x champ replied, “Patrick Mahomes for sure.” He then delved deep into why Mahomes is in fact his favorite player.

“I see a lot of myself in him. Just the creativity. You can’t blink or you’ll miss something special. I just love his confidence. He knows that at any point he can do something special.”

“He’s always got options. He’s got a way to make a play using his feet or his arm, sidearm pass, whatever it is. He’s surrounded by some weapons and he knows how to use them. He’s a generational talent, obviously. I love watching him.”

It seems as though Mahomes’s career so far in the NFL could also draw comparisons to Curry’s in a way. Winning the Super Bowl last year, then losing it to a player that is considered to be the ‘GOAT’ by many people. If Mahomes goes the Steph Curry route, looks like the Chiefs are about to win Super Bowls LVI and LVII.
