“I was out of the league”: Carmelo Anthony shares how he made his comeback to the league as he made his way to the Top-10 All-Time Scoring List
Blazers’ Carmelo Anthony shares words of wisdom in the locker room after he crosses Elvin Hayes into 10th on NBA’s all-time scoring list
The Portland Trailblazers snapped their recent win streak last night. The Blazers fell 114-123 short to the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta. Despite incredible efforts from Damian Lillard and co, the Blazers just could not manage to seal this deal. Dame led the way with his game-high 33 points, and there were valuable contributions from CJ McCollum, Carmelo Anthony, and Norman Powell. However, they were unable to contain the punch Danilo Gallinari provided off the bench.
Carmelo entered this game needing just nine points to surpass Elvin Hayes and claiming the 10th spot in the All-Time scoring list. Melo achieved that feat with an and-one three-pointer in the third quarter. Melo now sits on the 10th spot with 27,318 points in his career.
Carmelo Anthony gives an inspiring speech to his locker room
After having a rough duration where Melo was out of the NBA, the Blazers took a chance and gave him a 10-day contract last season. Since then Melo has become an important part of the Blazers team. Carmelo found a home in Portland, with players such as Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum at his side.
After reaching the milestone tonight, Anthony shared an important lesson with his locker room. Melo tried to impart the importance of perseverance. He shared how he stayed ready and strong, and he ended up achieving this huge milestone.
“A couple years ago I ain’t think I was gonna be in this moment. I was out the league for whatever reason… I’m back. I persevered. I stayed strong I stayed true to myself & now I’m here in the Top 10.” pic.twitter.com/QkmI0FbF3S

One can certainly look at Melo’s story and learn from it. If one decided to persevere and stay true to their art, they would achieve greatness eventually.
