"If Kevin Durant always felt this way he would never have left OKC to chase rings": Shannon Sharpe appears to misconstrue the Nets star's statements while trying to criticize him on Undisputed

Shannon Sharpe slams Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant for his comments on not being motivated by the idea of winning championships.

When Kevin Durant suffered his Achilles injury, not many expected the player to return close to his prime. However, in the games he has played this season, the Slim Reaper has been one of the best the NBA has to offer.

Unfortunately for the Brooklyn Nets though, his time on the court has been limited due to some niggling injuries. Durant recently returned from a hamstring injury to take the floor against a weak LA Lakers side.

And yet, somehow, by the end of the game, the score stood at 126-101 in the reigning champions’ favor. The two-time champion has since faced a lot of criticism, with many questioning his chances at a title this season.

This prompted the Nets star to say that he isn’t motivated by winning championships. He did clarify that this happened after he won a ring in 2017, but this comment has rubbed many the wrong way. And evidently, analyst Shannon Sharpe is one of them.

Shannon Sharpe is not a fan of Kevin Durant after his comments on winning a title

Shannon Sharpe is a co-host of the show ‘Undisputed’, where he talks sports with fellow infamous analyst Skip Bayless. On the most recent episode of the show, Sharpe responded to Kevin Durant’s comments on his lack of motivation to win a title this season. And let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.

“It is easy for him to say this now since he has those 2 titles. It puts his mind at ease. If he felt this way in the beginning, he would’ve never left OKC or fast-tracked himself to winning titles.”

Sharpe continued with passion.

“It’s easy for him to say now because he has that luxury of having those titles, having those Finals MVPs… So, if he accomplishes nothing else in life, he has that.”

While Shannon Sharpe was undoubtedly a bit too harsh, he is right here. NBA fans can’t imagine this statement coming from the likes of James Harden, because he hasn’t won a title yet. He is hungry for his first and likely came to the Brooklyn Nets to do just that.

No matter what Kevin Durant says, the Brooklyn Nets are one of the most interesting contenders this season. And no matter how many shenanigans surround its superstars, it will be interesting to see how it shakes out for the team in the postseason.
