"If We Win A Championship, I'll Cry": LeBron James Had a Fan Interaction About Breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Record During The Game Against The Detroit Pistons

LeBron James in Year 20 is outdoing anyone that old. For a man who’s about to turn 38, Bron has been playing like he’s only 30. Sure, he may not be putting too much effort into defense, but in his defense, he never did. He was always a pass-first, dunk-later kind of guy, and he’s still doing that to perfection.

In the game against the Detroit Pistons, Bron led his team to victory, scoring 35 points. That puts him 35 points closer to Kareem’s record, which he’s on track to break by the All-Star break. When the inevitable is about to happen, fans are excited to know what the Lakers star feels about it. Everyone dreams about touching that record, and only one man is close enough to do it.

All of us have thought about doing it at least once in our lives, but LeBron is about to do it in fewer than 50 games. If he does continue scoring at his pace and he stays fit, we’ll see a new all-time top scorer at the end of February. One fan asked him about his feelings about breaking the record, and Bron had a different answer.

Much has been said about him caring about individual accolades over team success, but the man seems to have a different mindset. To the question, “Will you cry if you break the scoring record?” he said, verbatim, “If we win a championship, I’ll cry.” Take that, Skip Bayless.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a terrible start to their season – A Bull run followed, and then they slipped again

After a horrendous 2-10 start, the Lakers saw a winning run that began swaying their fans. They came close to touching the .500 mark, but then Anthony Davis fell sick, and it crumbled again. After losing three straight games, the Lakers have arrested their slide by beating the Detroit Pistons.

That puts them firmly in the 12th spot and a good number of games away from even the 8th seed. The West is ultra-competitive this season, and a stretch of bad games for any of the top 8 could mean that the Lakers could overtake them. But given their form, it’s more likely than not that the Lakers will just struggle to get into the tournament.

If they do want to continue their good fortune and make LeBron James “cry” at the end of the season, the trade deadline should be used effectively. Their role players seem inconsistent in providing ample support to their big 3. Patrick Beverley has done decently on the defensive side but takes about three shots a game.

That isn’t enough support, seeing how poor their second-half performances have been.

Will LeBron James cry out of jubilation when he breaks the record?

He’d probably breathe a sigh of relief or something like that. If Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a sport, he’ll be there to cheer him on, but if he’s not, there will be tears. But then again, a 40-year-old record is almost impossible to bear losing, isn’t it?

With that move, Bron will be one step closer to cementing his legacy as the greatest of all time. But if it came down to it, he’d gladly trade that success for a fifth ring. LeBron has been vying for that fifth one ever since he wore a purple and gold uniform, and he’d be happy to tie Kobe Bryant while breaking Kareem’s record in the same season.

Poetic, considering he’d have toppled or equaled three of the most famous Lakers ever in one season. Kobe’s record of five rings, Kareem’s points, and Magic Johnson’s assists Would that put him in the Lakers’ great company? Definitely So!
