"If You Stop me at 25, Stephen Curry Ain't Hanging With me": Gilbert Arenas Controversially States He Was Better Than The Warriors Legend

Stephen Curry is undoubtedly one of the most popular players in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors star has done it all. In his 14 years in the NBA, he has won four NBA Championships, and two MVPs, and made numerous All-Star and All-NBA teams.

That being said, the Chef’s NBA career took a while to kick off. His early years were marred with injury. His first real success came when he made his first All-NBA team in 2014. And, since then it’s been uphill.

However, Gilbert Arenas has used this to make a shocking argument. He claims that if both his and Steph’s careers were stopped at the age of 25, he would be the better player.

Gilbert Arenas claims that he was better than Stephen Curry at the age of 25

Gilbert Arenas is remembered as being one of the most explosive guards the NBA has ever seen. He was quick, had a great handle, and had a deep shooting range. In many ways, his style was similar to that of Stephen Curry.

However, the one major contrast between the two is the age at which they peaked. No Chill Gil’s career reached a standstill when he turned 25, as injuries started to take hold. On the other hand, Steph became more or less injury free around the same age, as his career took off.

This wouldn’t really matter to an average NBA fan. But, in a shocking turn of events, Arenas has used this to argue that he was better than Steph. Appearing on the I AM ATHLETE podcast, Agent Zero claimed that if both his and Steph’s careers were stopped at the age of 25, he would be regarded as the better player all time.

“I got hurt at 25. So if you stop me at 25…Steph ain’t hanging with me. But, you’ve got to stop him at 25. At 25, there are no three championships. There’s only a one-time All-Star. I’m a three-time All-Star and a three-time All-NBA player by the age of 25. So, there’s not a lot of us at that age. Allen Iverson is only two!…two times at that age. But, you’ve got to stop it at 25. If you say ever…I’m in the same class as Stephen Curry!”

It definitely is a very intriguing take from Arenas. But, it’s not an argument you usually hear being made. Then again, this isn’t the first time Gilbert has had something “critical” to say about Chef Curry.

Gilbert Arenas once stated that it was the Warriors, not Steph who changed the game of basketball

Gilbert suggesting he was better than Stephen Curry at the age of 25 is definitely out there. But, it isn’t that surprising. Especially considering that he has been critical of Curry before. After all, he once suggested that it was the Golden State Warriors system that revolutionized basketball, and not Steph Curry with his immaculate three-point plays.

At the end of the day, both Steph and Gilbert Arenas are superb players. And, whether or not one of them changed the game of basketball doesn’t change that fact.
