“I’m Excited to Play Against Klay Thompson Again!”: Kyrie Irving Can’t Hide His Giddiness Ahead of Big Game vs Warriors Star
Anyone that said Klay Thompson would never look like himself again is likely feeling really stupid right now. After some serious time on the court after his return, the Warriors’ #11 is looking like the near-superstar-level player he had been known to be before the injury.
So far this season, the man is only averaging 18.4 points. But we’d say that’s more of a product of his early-season struggles. That number is bound to go up as the season goes on.
These are things Kyrie Irving has evidently been keeping an eye on. Since after a win against the Pistons, the Nets star just couldn’t stop gushing about playing against Klay Thompson again.
Let’s dive right into it, shall we?
Kyrie Irving talks up his upcoming matchup against Klay Thompson
Kyrie Irving and the Nets are on a particularly good patch right now.
The team is on a 6-game win streak and has won an insane 9 of their last 10 games. And during this stretch, they have risen up to 4th in the East.
At this time, there are a lot of good vibes around this team. Actually perhaps, it has been overflowing, because Irving voluntarily sent some Klay Thompson’s way as well.
Take a look at the tweet below.
Kyrie gave a passionate answer about being able to play Klay again on Wednesday. Here is part of it:
“I love him and I just want to see him do well. So for him to come back in Brooklyn and play against us and me going against him, a fellow #11 as well, it feels good, man.”
— Nick Friedell (@NickFriedell) December 19, 2022
This game will take place on Wednesday evening. And it’s one that we personally can’t wait to watch.
How have the Warriors been recently?
The Warriors may have been the 2022 NBA champions, but god knows they aren’t playing up to that level anymore.
The franchise sits just 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 15-16. To make matters worse, they have won just 4 of their last 10 games.
And as if the situation wasn’t bad enough already, Stephen Curry is set to miss significant time due to a shoulder injury, meaning that this franchise will be without its best player for a long time.
In other words, if the Dubs want to win this, Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson will both have to come up big during this game.
