“I’m going to hunt you down and beat you up”: Jimmy Butler hilariously threatened Goran Dragic into re-signing with the Miami Heat

Jimmy Butler jokingly threatened Goran Dragic before the guard re-signed with the Miami Heat to make a run for the Finals once again.

It’s safe to say that Jimmy Butler has made a name for himself in this league for his gritty, straight to the point personality when on the court

Everyone remembers the time when Butler wasn’t happy with his Timberwolves teammates. So he beat the Wolves starters in practice with his team comprising 3rd stringers. He built up a reputation for being a “locker room cancer”.

That perception of him took a complete 180 when he landed in Miami. After taking Miami to the NBA Finals, his teammates swear by the 31 year old, saying he was just misunderstood.

All Butler wanted was to be a part of a team with winning culture. So when there was a chance that the Heat’s core could be broken up going into the 2020-21 NBA season, Jimmy decided to take matters into his own hands.

Goran Dragic was forced into signing with the Heat by Jimmy Butler.

Goran Dragic was a free agent going into this 2020 offseason. So to evaluate his options, the 12 year vet took a trip to his home country of Slovenia.

However, before Dragic could even assess potential destinations for the next chapter in his NBA career, he gets a call from Jimmy Butler. He said to the Slovenian national, “You better sign with the Heat. If not, I know where you live. I’m going to hunt you down. I’m going to beat you up.”

Butler recalls this conversation with Goran and said, “G, we got to run this back or I’m going to punch you in your head.”

This was more than enough to convince Goran Dragic to sign with Miami. It was reported mere minutes into free agency that Goran had signed a 2 year/$37 million deal.
