“I’m Not Sleeping on the Lakers!”: Stephen A Smith Calls Anthony Davis ‘Top-7′ Player, Shows Faith in LeBron James’ Squad

The new NBA season is now here, and Stephen A Smith is ready with his predictions for the year. Stephen A. began the segment of his show, by clearly pointing out that the East was a two-horse race, between the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics. Moving on from the East, Smith moved his attention to the West. In the West, surprisingly enough, Stephen A, believes that the Lakers have a shot at the title this year.

Stephen A. was quick to mention that the Lakers had added new pieces that could take the load of Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Even saying so, he believes that AD when on his A-game, is a top 7 player in the league.

Stephen A Smith hopes the Lakers pick doesn’t backfire

Stephen A Smith made some bold statements on his recent show regarding his predictions for the next season. Surprisingly, he seems to be impressed with the Lakers’ off-season business and is definitely counting on them.

While on the Stephen A. Show, he said, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I am here to tell you something, I hope I don’t eat crow. I am not sleeping on the Lakers. I love that they kept their team intact. Austin Reaves is back, Jared Vanderbilt is back, D’Angelo Russell is back, Rui Hachimura is back. Anthony Davis is the new 62-million-dollar man. LeBron James is still going strong. I like the Taurean Princes of the world, the Jackson Hayes of the world, and the Christian Woods of the world. Some of these additional bodies which can play the five, so Anthony Davis doesn’t have to.”

Stephen A. has high expectations from Anthony Davis and believes that this season Anthony Davis just might stay healthy due to the extra bodies Lakers have to play the Center position. Davis, who prefers to play the four, instead of the five position, will hopefully have a more consistent season, playing his preferred role.

Even Stephen A. had a similar observation, telling his viewers ” Anthony Davis who I call six flags, because he’s a roller coaster. One day he’ll drop 40 and the other game he will drop 11. If that brother can give u consistent excellence, which he is more than capable of doing because his A-game is a top seven player in the world. That brother can make things happen.

But it’s not only AD, that makes the Lakers a title contender. LeBron, who is in his 21st season, has more playoff experience, compared to anyone else currently in the league. Outside giving the team a consistent 26, 10, and 8, Bron is possibly the greatest floor general we have ever seen.

Anthony Davis aims to play the entire season

Anthony Davis is the key to the Lakers’ success, and he knows it. Before the season kicked off, Davis was asked about his expectations for himself this season was, in terms of staying healthy and playing games answering the question, Davis said, “I mean, it’s my goal every year to play 82, and I didn’t do anything differently. I took some time off. Got back in the lab and am ready to get started. Nothing’s changed. Every year you want to come out and play every game and help the team win, especially my role, I know it’s a big piece of this team, and with me being on the floor, it helps us.”

But it’s not only Davis that has set his mind on a target for the season. Christian Wood has circled his calendar for the Bucks, after Giannis Antetokounmpo, decided to upload a picture of himself blocking Christian Wood on Instagram. The Bucks star went as far as to even tag the Lakers player.
