The Memphis Grizzlies are gearing up to face the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 3 of the first round. In their previous meeting, the Grizzlies, without Ja Morant, ensured a much-needed win.

However, it is hard to imagine them recreating that feat again on Saturday night in Game 3. After all, Morant is their best player and top scorer. His presence undeniably provides Taylor Jenkins with an athletic guard who can trouble the opposition’s defense.
Unfortunately, Ja Morant is currently recovering from a hand injury. He aggravated his injury during Game 1 leading to his absence in Game 2. His status for Saturday’s matchup is concerning for the Grizzlies and their fans.
Ja Morant is marked as Questionable
In their official injury report, the Memphis Grizzlies have marked Ja as questionable. The reason for his status is listed as right-hand soreness. The 6ft 3″ guard is suffering from a soft tissue bruise on his right hand. According to Memphis staff, the injury suffered in Game 1 was an aggravation of a previous injury.
With Ja Morant marked as questionable, his availability for Saturday night will likely be a game-time decision. Reports revealed that he participated in non-contact practice. But his presence in Game 3 is yet to be confirmed.
The decision will depend on Morant and how he is feeling. The Grizzlies will stay away from allowing their star player to play without satisfactory healing. In fact, there is a high probability the 23-year-old will not play in Game 3.
Memphis Grizzlies Expected Lineup against the Lakers
Considering their upcoming opponents are LeBron James and Co., Memphis need all hands on deck. With Steven Adams already out of the lineup and Ja’s questionable status, they are clearly at a disadvantage.
In all likelihood, Jenkins will execute the same lineup he used in Game 2. Tyus Jones will take Ja’s spot as a starting guard and start alongside Desmond Bane on the backcourt.
Meanwhile, Dillion Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Xavier Tillman will feature on the team’s frontcourt. JJJ is their best defender and will be crucial in helping his team clinch Game 3.
