The Lakers have had yet another wretched start to their season as they look to place LeBron James in the Finals once again. They currently have a 18-21 record with nearly half the season already played.
Last year, they missed the play-in scenarios altogether as the trio of Westbrook, LeBron and AD didn’t gel. Injuries and a lack of competent perimeter defenders cost them big-time in their attempts for title contention.
This season looks to be mostly the same thus far as they are struggling through an identity crisis. Though Russell Westbrook is now coming off the bench to offer them some impetus, the rest of their squad looks as haphazard as it did last year.
Lack of contributions from their role players and an inherent lack of talent in the roster outside of their Big 3 is costing them. Having said that, King James has been doing his best to keep them afloat.
LeBron has scored over 30 in 9 of his last 11 outings. His last 2 games saw him tally 43 and 47 points respectively in wins against the Hornets and the Hawks.
However, with Anthony Davis out possibly till the end of the month, their burden does not look likely to decrease any time soon.
Is LeBron James playing tonight vs Kings?
ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin had some encouraging news for the purple-and-gold brigade ahead of their clash. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook look likely to take the floor in this key clash as they try to claw back into the play-in picture.

It took some heroics from the hobbled Dennis Schroder to see them over the line on Wednesday against the Heat. Schroder will be likely to have more reinforcements this time around with James present.
LeBron’s statistics this season
LeBron James has played 29 out of the Lakers’ 38 games this year. He’s still averaging numbers that mark him out as the GOAT candidate that he is.
Having started the season off slow, James is now tallying 29 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. His scoring tear of late has bumped his averages up significantly. He also seems to be playing better defense than at the start of the season.
