“Its gotta be ABS – Anybody But Stephen Curry”: Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless discuss Lakers’ defensive strategy against the Warriors star in play in game
Stephen Curry has been rewriting the record books over the past couple of months, but Skip Bayless isn’t too concerned for LeBron James and co.
This season has cemented beyond any reasonable doubt that Steph is one of the greatest players of all time to play the game – period. There has never been an NBA player who poses such a threat of making buckets with every touch.
Curry runs circles around his dazed opponents, forcing them through screen after screen. If his defender’s somehow managed to keep his wits about him and stay in touch, Curry takes out his do-it-yourself kit.
What Steph achieved in the month of April is beyond parallel in league history, worthy of mythical status. The man really went and swished 96 3-pointers in a single month, comprising of 15 games.
Curry finished the season with 337 threes made, which is 4th highest in any NBA season. It’s clear that he finished the season as strong as he could possibly have, on both a team as well as at the individual level.
Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe chalk out the Lakers’ mantra for guarding Stephen Curry
Steph has seen all kinds of coverages this season ranging from box-and-1s to triple-teams. We’d only heard of the term gravity before this, but watching Stephen Curry navigate entire hordes of defenders really tends to drive the point home.
Skip and Shannon are of the opinion that the Lakers will try to force the ball out of Steph’s hands. Both pointed to how the Lakers have the league’s best defensive rating this season as proof of their prowess there.
.@ShannonSharpe on the Lakers vs Warriors play-in game:
“The Warriors are a dangerous team. We know what Steph Curry represents and he’s been as good right now as any point in his career. But I expect the Lakers to play one of the better ball-games to pull out the win.” pic.twitter.com/MHDHmO7aOR

Stephen Curry will definitely need to be at an all-time great level for the Warriors to keep pace. LeBron James is the best playoff performer in single-game pressure that we’ve seen in recent memory. Beating him will require rising to his levels.
