“Jays Smoking That Philadelphia Pack!”: ESPN’s Mark Jones Praises Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, Gets Fans Rolling
The Boston Celtics made their way to Philadelphia to take on the Sixers for Game 6. Down 3-2, the Celtics’ season was on the line tonight, and Jayson Tatum was nowhere to be found(for most of the game). Jaylen Brown and co. held the game together, and Tatum showed up in the 4th quarter, sealing a win and tying the series. Mark Jones was clearly ecstatic after the win. He praised the Jays in quite a unique way.
With their backs against to the wall, the Celtics found a way to respond. Even though Jayson Tatum had a horrible 0-10 start to the game, the rest of the team made sure they stayed afloat. He then took over in the 4th, scoring 14 out of the last 16 points for the Cs. The 2022 Finalists ended up securing a 95-86 win, and forcing a Game 7.
As soon as the game ended, Mark Jones, who was calling the game, made a comment that had NBA Twitter in splits.
Clip of Mark Jones praising Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown goes viral
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are one of the most dynamic young duos in the current NBA. They’ve had a lot of experience in the playoffs and came close to winning it all last year, but couldn’t close the series. Every year during the playoffs, people put them under scrutiny and criticize every move of theirs.
However, Mark Jones, who was casting the game with Doris Burke and Cassidy Hubbarth tonight, did not care about the noise. He was impressed with what he saw, and let the same be known. After the game ended, he took to the mic and said,
“The two Jays. Smoking that Philadelphia pack tonight.”

While it’s all fun and jokes here, the narratives around trying to break up the Jays are insane. The duo has accomplished a lot together, and they’re still too young to not be given a fair chance.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum stats this post season
Jayson Tatum is just 25 years old, and Brown is 26. This is their 6th playoffs together, and 7th year for Brown. During that time, they’ve made it to the Conference Finals thrice, and have one trip to the NBA Finals.
Their aim is to get back to the Finals and change the outcome they had last season. Tatum has been averaging 26.9 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.7 blocks a game. On the other hand, Brown has been averaging 25.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals a game.
Together, the duo has established themselves as one of the best duos in the current NBA. Hopefully, the media narratives around breaking them up dies down soon, and the front office keeps believing in the duo.
