Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler III (10) draws on a board with forward Draymond Green (23) during the second quarter against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.

Within weeks of joining the Warriors, Jimmy Butler seems to have won over Draymond Green with his game IQ. On a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, the Warriors veteran heaped praise on his new teammate.

During their recent game against the Sacramento Kings, Butler was seen drawing up a play during a timeout. The leadership quality showcased by the forward has left quite an impression on Green.

He said, “With our team, there’s a lot of denial. You know what I’m saying? There’s a lot of traps. Trying to take Steph out the game and all these things.”

Green revealed that Butler was showing his teammates a different way to run a set that would open up the floor and get him in the right position to tackle the Kings’ defense.

Green added, “Jimmy, man. He dialed in on it. Jimmy is an overcommunicator…Jimmy gonna come to you before something ever happens.”

The four-time NBA Champion said that Butler stays a step ahead and seeing it in real time was a great experience. Green believes that there’s a lot that the Warriors can learn from their new teammate.

He said, “To talk basketball with somebody that knows the basketball game like Jimmy and listen and learn from somebody who knows the game like Jimmy, it’s music to my ears.”

The addition of Butler has put the Warriors in a great position. They now have three players with high game IQ and the ability to lead the team. The effect of it is evident in the games’ results. The Warriors have won five of the six games since he joined.

Jimmy Butler compliments Stephen Curry’s game very well

When Butler joined the Warriors, several people had their doubts regarding how he was going to fit into the organization. The Warriors operate like a close-knit family and are led by Steph and Green. The six-time All-Star has managed to not only find his place in the team but has also received praise from both the veterans.

After Butler’s first game with the Warriors, Steph said that his ability to dominate the paint and perimeter makes him a perfect teammate. Steph’s game largely depends on threes and to have someone who can operate from the inside is a great combination.

He said, “He’s like the exact opposite player of me. I took 16 3s and he shot one. He got to the free throw line a lot, dominated the paint. I dominate the perimeter.”

Steph said that he’s hopeful for a “fun” run with the 35-year-old forward.
